2009 Day Camps
Applications are currently being accepted for a day filled with fun! Send your child on an out-of-this-world space adventure this summer! Challenger Learning Center offers day camps for young people ages 6-12 (entering grades 1-7) interested in science, having fun, and making new friends.


Space Explorers
 
YOU are invited to join a daring crew of mission specialists and astronauts and be among the first to “Return to the Moon” to establish a permanent lunar base. Encounter a new era of human planetary exploration as you explore the dusty lunar surface, launch a probe, and conduct vital scientific experiments. Fire up your imagination as you experience the thrill of our two-hour simulated space mission and spend the rest of the day enjoying exciting hands-on activities. Are YOU ready? Cosmic Kids
Explore Your World and Beyond
Is Pluto just a comic book character? Why is our galaxy called the Milky Way? Join us exciting adventure to explore your world and beyond. Discover what makes each planet special and why Earth is your place in space. Applications are now being accepted for a day filled with excitement, fun, and take-home activities. Come meet new friends and enjoy the adventure of learning about space. YOU can do it! Cosmic Kids entering grades 1-3. BLAST OFF!

2009 Weeklong Camp

Power Robotics


Students entering grades 5-9 will spend a week solving robotics challenges about power and electricity, fly a simulated spaceflight, and perform a pool microgravity challenge. Family members are invited to a mini-robotics tournament on Friday afternoon.

Time: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Price: $250 (+$25 for extended hours)

Students will also receive lunch daily and a space mission t-shirt.
Camp Dates: Monday-Friday, June 22-26

Mission/Philosophy
The Challenger Learning Center at Wheeling Jesuit University offers unique and educational day camps for children ages 6-12. Campers learn in an encouraging and engaging environment where they can explore the wonders of space through fun, hands-on activities and an exciting space travel mission.

To register, simply download and complete the Registration Form, Health Form, and Release Form for mailing. Please register only one camper per form. Early registration is encouraged because camp sizes are limited. So register TODAY!

Please complete all information on the registration, health, and release forms and return these signed forms before the camp date your child will be attending, or registration will be delayed. Payment must be provided at the time of registration in order to secure your child's place in the camp.

IMPORTANT: If you would like to register for a camp that is less than two weeks away, please call 304.243.8740 to confirm availability.

Confirmation
Once your registration is processed, you will receive confirmation notification by phone or e-mail. If you are unable to download camp forms or if you have not received your confirmation notification, please call 304.243.8740.
 
To answer any questions you may have about your child’s Challenger Space Camp experience, review the Camp Checklist to read “Everything you will need to know to send your child on an unforgettable adventure this summer!”
 

Cancellations/Refunds
Cancellations must be received no later than five working days before the camp in order to receive a full refund. No refunds will be made after a camp begins. Challenger Learning Center reserves the right to cancel any camp not meeting the minimum registration requirements. You will be notified at least one week before the chosen camp date. You may select an alternative session date, or you may request a full refund of registration fees paid.

T-Shirts and Patches
“Return to the Moon” t-shirts are $13, and patches are $4. You can view the designs on the registration form. All merchandise ordered will be received on the day of camp. Space items are also available at the gift shop on the camp date. For more information call 304.243.8740 or e-mail summercamp@cet.edu.
